A view from the top

They say that the best view of Warsaw is from The Palace of Culture, and they say that is because it is the only view that you do not have to see the Palace of Culture.

cold and snow

So it’s a little cold here. Okay, a lot cold, like, “I can’t feel my face” cold.

pen and ink

So, I admit I am a little obsessed with good art supplies. I love a good pen, and I am obsessed with painting with ink right now. And drawing with brushes. So when I got some goodies from jetpens i filled up half a notebook in a couple of weeks.

i like carousels better than I like most things

the eiffel tower is lovely, yes, but I like the carousel. almost entirely unlauded, everyone takes pictures by the tower. waits a long time to go up to the top of the tower, while the carousel spins happily and plinks a tune, 90% empty. me? gimme some fries and mayonnaise (okay, and a butter and sugar crepe) and let me watch my enameled horses go ’round and ’round.

Here is a thought on creativity:
There are no accidents in art. There are mistakes, and there is unanticipated magic sometimes, but the point is to be there to accept it, and capture it however it comes. To take the picture, and then take it again, and be able to recognize something beautiful. And recognize it even if it wasn’t the same something that you originally intended for it to be, and be able to take ownership of it anyway. Realize that you are the author of the unexpected within yourself as well as the expected.

These images were taken 3 minutes apart and everything was the same except one had a contaminate in the chemistry, and the other was more “correct”.
